Embossed

Hello lovely people,

I am here with a very quick post to share my card for Totally Gorjuss and this week we want to see some ‘Embossing.’  Now, I don’t use either heat or dry embossing all that much but I do have a couple of embossing folders that don’t see the light of day very much.  So, I shook the dust off one of them and went for a really simple little design;

embossed heart

Card recipe;
Embossing folder: Cuttlebug D’vine swirl
Lace: from The Ribbon Girl
Heart / flower: cut with Cricut
Wooden heart button: from stash

I surprised myself with how much I liked this card when it was finished and even better, it didn’t take very long to make!

Do stop by the Totally Gorjuss blog to see some inspirational ideas for embossing from the rest of the DT.

Pink fairy

Hello lovely people,

I have had such a great weekend filled with lots of time to craft and finishing up with coffee and cakes with friends this afternoon – just lovely!

Earlier this morning I decided to whip up (hmm, Dr Hubby might not agree with the use of the term ‘whip up’ but never mind!) a card for a few challenges and I used the sketch over at The Deconstructed Sketch as my layout inspiration;

Here is what I came up with;

Fairy sketch

I have distressed the edges of the DP a little with sandpaper and a smidge of TH Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap then added the stitching.

Fairy sketch angle

OK, you may have noticed that I was slightly naughty and left off the bow but I just couldn’t make it look right.  Plus, if I faffed around with it any longer when we were supposed to be leaving for the aforementioned afternoon tea then Dr Hubby might have started divorce proceedings…

I used a sweet Tiddly Inks image called Wryn – Fairy Friends and coloured it with Copics.

Card recipe;
DP: Maja Design Vintage Spring Basics
Sentiment: Amy R stamp set
Flowers: from stash
Pearl brad: from Wild Orchid Crafts

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;

1) The Deconstructed Sketch (#97)

2) Tiddly Inks (distress, emboss or stitch)

3) In the Pink (let’s fly away)

4) Bunny Zoe (fave colour combo)

5) Sweet Stampin’ (pastels)

In breaking news I have my fingers crossed for a trip to Ikea this week to buy a new craft desk – woohoo! I will keep you posted…

Spring shades

Hello lovely people,

Well, I don’t know if Spring is finally here to stay but we are all about the ‘Spring Shades’ over at Totally Gorjuss this week.  The new Spring Basics collection from Maja Designs (available from Live and Love Crafts) is perfect for this theme and I had to buy pretty much every design in the collection as they were all just so beautiful!

Spring Ava

Spring Ava angle

I used several layers of pretty papers (I had so many to choose from!) all matted onto Kraft, then stitched and inked around the edges.  Here you can see the layers and the little ribbon loop under the button;

Spring Ava flat

I also decided to add to my collection of Saturated Canary images as I have loved these awesome digistamps by Krista for a long time but only have a couple.  I thought Ava with her balloon was a great match for the spring papers and I have coloured her with my Copics – I think I am slowly getting the hang of them but still have lots to learn.

I would also like to enter this card in the Saturated Canary Challenge this week which has the theme of ‘Anything Goes.’

Please do head on over to Totally Gorjuss to see the beautiful creations from my teamies and if you enter our challenge then you might win a prize from our lovely sponsors, Crafters Companion.

Easter treats

Hello lovely people,

I have just had a really lovely weekend and isn’t it nice to have slightly warmer weather?  We went for a pub lunch with friends on Saturday followed by a walk in beautiful sunshine; maybe Spring is finally here?!

I also spent some time sharing my crafting supplies with a friend who is just starting out making cards and helped her make her first card – we were both so proud!

One thing I really enjoy at Easter is making little treat bags for my niece and nephews and this year I wanted to try a gift bag design that I saw on Pinterest.  I didn’t print the template or use the dimensions from the original post (which you can find here) but just messed around with some scrap paper until I found a size that I liked.

Easter gift bag trio

I attached a flap of card to the back of the bag then folded it over the front and added a sweet mini peg to keep it all closed up.  I popped some eggs in a cellophane bag and they fitted perfectly in the space inside!

Here’s what it looks like inside so you can see the folding;

The images are a set from Pink Petticoat which I coloured with Copics then cut out with a circle Nestie die and layered onto a scalloped circle cut with my Cricut.

I would like to enter these in the following challenges;

1) Papertake Weekly (Anything Goes +/- Kraft card)

2) Cute Card Thursday (Something borrowed – the idea from Pinterest)

3) ABC (K is for Kraft)

4) Sweet Stampin’ (Scallops)

A little bit of sparkle

Hello lovely people,

Wow, another week has rushed by although I have only been in work for 2 days so can’t complain!  I’m here with my card for Totally Gorjuss and this week our theme is ‘Anything Goes with Sparkle’ … sounds easy, right?  Not so much for me as I don’t often add a lot of sparkly stuff to my cards, so here goes…

Teal and grey wedding angle

As usual, the stitching was done by hand and I stuck all the gems down one by one (very carefully!) then I added just a little extra sparkle to the flower centres with some Crystal Stickles.

Card recipe;
DP: Maja Designs (Crea Diem)
Label shape: cut with Cricut (Lacy labels cartridge)
Lace: from The Ribbon Girl
Flowers / teal gems: from stash
Seam binding / pearl brad / pearls: from Wild Orchid Crafts

I hope you have a lovely weekend and please do stop by at Totally Gorjuss to see what lovely sparkly things the rest of the DT have been creating.

Something blue

Hello lovely people,

It’s Saturday again and that means a new challenge over at Totally Gorjuss and the theme this week, as you may already have guessed, is ‘Something Blue.’  We have TWO fabulous sponsors this week in the shape of Bugaboo and Quixotic Paperie so two good reasons to join in with our challenge and maybe win some goodies!

I have used a LOTV stamp…yes, another one, but you can never have too many I think 😉

cake mice

You will have noticed that it is for a bloke so of course, that meant keeping embellishments to a minimum – always tricky!  Instead I went for lots of layers and a cute flag banner with the recipient’s name on it, which was all cut by hand.  Hmm, I’m sure I could find a die for that…

cake mice angle

I coloured the image with ProMarkers as I did this before my recent conversion to Copics and just look at those cute mice baking away…

Card recipe;
DP: Maja Designs (By the sea paper pad)
Letters: Quick Cutz alphabet die
Twine: from stash

Copic convert!

Hello lovely people,

Hurrah – I finally had time at the weekend to play with my new Copics and I love them!  I did have to add in the odd ProMarker so I clearly need to buy some more colours 😉

I used a lovely image from LOTV to experiment with and made it up into this card for the Lili’s Little Fairies Challenge of ‘Spring colours.’   It is a bit of a late entry as the rubber stamp I wanted to use for the sentiment disintegrated as I stamped it so I had to rethink the arrangement of embellishments and it seemed to take me forever 😦

The stitching has been done by hand and the edges of DP have been inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap.  Oh, and look, there is my favourite die of the moment again!

love balloon anniversary

Here is a close up of the sweet image;

Card recipe;
DP: Pion Design (Fairytale of Spring)
Flowers: cut with Cricut (Lyrical Letters cartridge)
Border punch: Martha Stewart (the one I can’t remember the name of!)
Leaves: Memory Box Lavish Branch die
Seam binding: from Crafty Ribbons
Pearls: Kaisercraft
Sentiment: Paula Pascual All Year Round stamp set

I am off to try to decide which Copics I should buy next, and of course I think I will need some new sentiment stamps too…

Thanks so much for visiting me,

Something borrowed

Hello lovely people,

Oh no, not more rain/snow again!  I guess I will just have to stay inside and do some crafting 😉 Maybe I will even get a chance to have a proper go with my new Copics!

Anyway, I wanted to share my DT card for Totally Gorjuss and our theme for this week is ‘Something Borrowed’…hmm, thinking caps on for this one!

I was trying to make a piano themed card for someone and decided to ‘borrow’ some inspiration from Pinterest 🙂  Check out this fabulous 3D example here, which is where I got the basic piano shape from, although mine is a flat version.

This is the card lying flat;

Then the top part stands up with a little card prop;

Here you can see all the pretty embellishments including my new favourite leafy die;

Card recipe;

DP: Maja Designs for the music paper

Flowers: Prima Country Elegance

Foliage: Memory Box Lavish Branch die

Feeling springy?

Hello lovely people,

Firstly I want to say thank you to Sharon for becoming my latest follower – it’s lovely to have you along 🙂

I hope you all had a good ‘hump’ day 🙂  I am lucky that I don’t work Wednesdays but I didn’t think I would have much time for crafting today as I had a number of chores to do like shopping 😦 The weather was kind enough to let me pop out into the garden and do a little more tidying and plant my seed potatoes.  My broad bean seeds are now sprouting and the garden is full of hellebores, pulmonaria and primroses so it is feeling a lot more spring-like now – yay!

So, this is a card I made for Mother’s Day and it is aptly spring-like…

Spring bear angle

This was for my mother and I tried to keep to a ‘clean’ style that I know she likes.  Did you spot my wandering pearl?!  I finished the card and took the pictures in a bit of a rush and totally didn’t notice it – sorry Mum for the imperfection!

I have coloured the gorgeous LOTV stamp with ProMarkers and the flower centres have a little dash of Frosted Lace Stickles on them.

Spring bear cu

Card recipe;

DP: Maja Design Vintage Basics (available from Dies to Die For)

Border: Martha Stewart punch around the page – no idea which one!

Sentiment: Paula Pascual All Year Round stamp set

Pearls: Kaisercraft

I would like to enter this in the following challenges;

1) By the Cute and Girly (favourite things – my ProMarkers, LOTV stamps and pearls)

2) Die-ing for a Challenge (Spring)

3) Passion for ProMarkers (Butterflies)

4) Simon Says Stamp (Easter/Spring)

Thanks for stopping by and if you have time to leave me a comment I love to read them 🙂

Hugs,
