Copic convert!

Hello lovely people,

Hurrah – I finally had time at the weekend to play with my new Copics and I love them!  I did have to add in the odd ProMarker so I clearly need to buy some more colours 😉

I used a lovely image from LOTV to experiment with and made it up into this card for the Lili’s Little Fairies Challenge of ‘Spring colours.’   It is a bit of a late entry as the rubber stamp I wanted to use for the sentiment disintegrated as I stamped it so I had to rethink the arrangement of embellishments and it seemed to take me forever 😦

The stitching has been done by hand and the edges of DP have been inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap.  Oh, and look, there is my favourite die of the moment again!

Card recipe;
DP: Pion Design (Fairytale of Spring)
Flowers: cut with Cricut (Lyrical Letters cartridge)
Border punch: Martha Stewart (the one I can’t remember the name of!)
Leaves: Memory Box Lavish Branch die
Seam binding: from Crafty Ribbons
Pearls: Kaisercraft
Sentiment: Paula Pascual All Year Round stamp set

I am off to try to decide which Copics I should buy next, and of course I think I will need some new sentiment stamps too…

Thanks so much for visiting me,

Hugs,

Kat

Wild thing

Hello,

I had to make this very quickly as I suddenly realised I hadn’t made Dr Hubby an anniversary card in all the excitement of getting ready to go away for a week.  To be fair, he never gets me a card so every year I think I could save myself the effort but I never do!  Besides, I hadn’t used this digi stamp from Tiddly Inks and he is too cute to sit unused, so out came the ProMarkers and I whipped up this little number.

I used the sketch from this week’s Stamptacular challenge as my inspiration;

This was also my first attempt at the ‘out of the box’ technique so I could get the balloon outside my main circle and it worked – hurrah!

Since Dr Hubby isn’t a fan of ‘stuff’ on cards, I’m not sure if the bakers twine will go down ok but I couldn’t leave it without any embellishment.  I remain unconvinced by my colouring but am blaming a lack of appropriate light brown colours in my collection; a good excuse to buy some more methinks 😉

Oh, and it was only when writing this blog post that I noticed I hadn’t coloured the little bit of the balloon at the bottom – doh!  I managed to rectify it before handing over the card but didn’t have time to re-take the photos.

I would like to enter the card in the following challenges;

1) Stamptacular (sketch)

2) By the cute and girly (boys/men)

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Hugs,

Kat

Black and white

Hello,

I was asked to make a card for a silver wedding anniversary and thought it would be fun to try colouring this lovely LOTV image in greyscale, which I have never tried before.  Ok, so the card ended up basically black and white and didn’t really have a lot of silver on it apart from round the flowers but it turned out that the couple are going to New Zealand so the colours were perfect!  I even used a little bit of ferny foliage to tie in with the NZ theme 🙂

Card recipe;

DP: Bo Bunny Enchanted collection

Flowers: Memory box die

Ferny leaves: cut with Cricut

Pearls: from Wild Orchid Crafts

I would like to enter the card in the following challenges;

1) Lili’s Little Fairies (anything but a square card)

2) Die-ing for a Challenge (anything goes)

3) Simon Says Stamp (put a stamp on it)

4) Papertake Weekly (anything goes + option of non-square card)

Thanks for stopping by,

Hugs,

Kat

Ruby wedding anniversary

Good evening all!

I have had a busy weekend celebrating my husband’s birthday so haven’t had much time for card making 😦  but did have lots of time for eating cake 😀

So, I thought I would share this card that I made a little while ago for my parents-in-law’s ruby wedding anniversary.  This was my first attempt at a tri-shutter card and it turned out to be a lot easier to do than I thought.  I have kept the embellishment to a minimum to show off the lovely stamped image which is from Lili of the Valley and is coloured with ProMarkers.

Card recipe:

DP: free with a magazine I think

Hearts: cut with Cricut (+ white gel pen ‘stitches’)

Flowers: Memory Box die

Pearls: Wild Orchid Crafts (all white to start with but have coloured some with a red ProMarker)

Here is a close up of the main image;

I would like to enter the card in the following challenges;

1) Lili’s Little Fairies (In the garden)

2) Stamptacular (Fancy folds)

Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments,

Kat
